Jeff Gomez spent a year as a Creative Writing substitute teacher in the toughest education system in the world. While teaching grade school in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant district, he developed a storytelling curriculum that was then incorporated into the mission statement of his nationally distributed Gateways magazine. To this day, his "Cosmic Streetcorner" talks about his life on the streets of lower Manhattan, and the perils he faced, are given to young people across the country.
